A Geelong Mystery – I suspect it can only be solved in Geelong

Message posted by Marg O’Leary

Need help re a Geelong family around WW1.
The soldier is James Ingersoll HIGGINS
b 1891 Geelong. Died Fromelles 19 July 1916.
In looking up his birth he was born KIDDLE, mother Agnes Hicks KIDDLE and father James Williams.

So we are sorting out this relationship, because to identify the soldier, we ultimately need a rellie who can match DNA.
Agnes has a sister Mary Jane who marries Frederick James Guy Williams 1889 and we think hmmm.

So we need to find out about Mr FJG Williams. Most grateful for any help

kind regards

  1. Hi Marg – one of your best options might be a Letter to the Editor of the Geelong Advertiser – that has a huge reach and might be a good avenue to pursue. Particularly if you have a photo of either James Ingersoll HIGGINS or any of the KIDDLE or WILLIAMS families – a photo is always a drawcard. Happy to post a photo here if you want to send it to me attached to an email at geelong@zades.com.au .
